Do the Sandbar Shuttle with Capt. Carlton

The coolest thing on Chincoteague this season is taking the Sandbar Shuttle out to the mini barrier island and spending the day (you can spend an hour or spend the day) on the beach or in the water or fishing or playing with your dog (DON’T FORGET WATER AND A BOWL) or sometimes listening to a band that hops the shuttle, sets up and plays.
No, I haven’t been in the sun too long. Actually, out there it isn’t long enough. It’s idyllic – parking isn’t an issue because the water bus drops you off, crowds aren’t an issue because frankly, it’s not crowded, rough waves aren’t an issue because it’s warm water shallows. You need to bring food, you need to bring beverages, you need to bring your chairs and beach gear but is that really an issue?
So head down to Curtis Merritt Marina and go see Capt. Carlton Leonard, Island Cruises at Slip #53. Shuttles depart 10:00 a.m. , 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The last pickup from the Sandbar is at 5:00. Cost is $10.00 Adult, $5.00 for children 12 and under or $25.00 Family. Tickets are purchased at the dock – cash only.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
